What Is A Googie Sign?

Just what is a Googie sign? Googie is a style of architecture that is hard to define in just a few words. For a thorough introduction, please see this site: Googie Architecture Online. In a nutshell, Googie is a 1950-1960s post-modern style. This includes bold colors, sharp angles and more or less (but not always) a “space age” type look. You know it when you see it. These signs may be a little absurd, but they are thoroughly awesome. And Project Absurd loves this style of sign. We believe these signs are rare and beautiful works of art and wish to help in their preservation.
